Conference Profile and Objectives
In today’s technologically advanced society, children typically spend around several hours each day using digital devices that can impact their early childhood development. The explosive growth of social media, smart phones and digital devices is transforming the kids' lives, in school and at home. The benefits of technology on early childhood development and learning are evident. However, the overuse of technology can lead to a sedentary lifestyle and causes issues with behaviour, development and the learning process. The effects are greatest on younger children.
In this context, Datamatix in association with its partners, presents, “Children in the Era of Smart Cities and Technology Summit” which aims to discuss technology impact on child growth and challenges for early childhood in digital age. The event will explore the potential benefits and downsides of media and technology use in early childhood whilst highlighting technology and physical health (incl. sleep), social/emotional well-being, and learning/play in early childhood.
The event will provide expertise related to children’s engagement with the internet and online games, and contribute to discussions around excessive use of technology and the impact of technology on mental health. Increasingly, while focusing the attention on issues around children’s right to privacy online and on improving considerations for children’s rights in data protection regulation.
